India pull off incredible win at Perth

January 19, 2008 · 8 Comments

India recorded one of their most amazing Test triumphs overseas when they beat Australia by 72 runs in the thrilling third cricket Test to snap the champion team’s record 16-match winning streak here on Saturday.

Set 413 to win a world record 17th Test in succession, the Australians were dismissed for 340 to allow the spirited visitors to reduce the margin to 2-1 in the four match series with one full day to spare.

Not many had given the Indians any hope at the WACA, regarded as the fastest pitch in the world, but Anil Kumble and his men came out firing on all cylinders to not only pull off a sensational victory but raise hopes of levelling the series.

The Indians celebrated wildly and hugged each other after R P Singh castled last man Shaun Tait, bringing an end to a dramatic Test which saw fortune fluctuating from one team to the other on the four days.

It was a remarkable show of character by the Indians who did not allow the acrimonious events of the Sydney Test to affect them as they went about plotting the demolition of the champion team.

Michael Clarke, who has struggled to find his peak form in the series, was the highest scorer for the Australians with 81 while Michael Hussey (46) and captain Ricky Ponting (45) were the other notable performers.

With the hosts reeling at 253 for eight, tailenders Mitchell Johnson (50 not out) and Stuart Clark (32) used the long handle to good effect to give the Indians some anxious moments.

One hand on steering wheel, one hand out of window .
- Sydney
One hand on steering wheel, one hand on horn
- Japan
One hand on steering wheel, one hand on newspaper, foot solidly on
accelerator…
- Boston

Both hands on steering wheel, eyes shut, both feet on brake,
quivering in terror
- New York

Both hands in air, gesturing, both feet on accelerator, head turned
to talk to someone in back seat
- Italy

One hand on horn,
one hand on holding gear,
one ear listening to loud music,
one ear on cell phone,
one foot on accelerator,
one foot on clutch ,
nothing on brake ,
eyes on females in next car ,

- Welcome to INDIA!

It seems like he is also concentrating on the quality of the film not on the quantity. 15th feb he is coming back with AISH in the movie called Jodha Akbar. Hope it will be a super duper hit and collection will be high in the box office. I am waiting quite anxiously for his new movie.

The country’s second largest bike maker Bajaj Auto Ltd on Tuesday cocked a snook at those who sniggered at its efforts to get into the passenger car market.

The company silently unveiled its ‘Lite’ concept car in New Delhi, two days before the much hyped launch of Tata Motors’ Rs 1 lakh car.

Bajaj Auto, the country’s second biggest two-wheeler maker, said it plans to bring out its small car in collaboration with Renault and Nissan within four years but it will not be for Rs 1 lakh (Rs 100,000).

“I know Carlos Ghosn (President and CEO of Renault and Nissan) has set a target of 2010 for Bajaj-Renault car. While it is hard to put any time-frame, we can say in two-four years we can expect to have the product ready,” Bajaj Auto managing director Rajiv Bajaj told reporters in New Delhi.

Bajaj declined to give a specific price of the small car. Ghosn has earlier stated that Renault was looking for a $3,000 car in India, a move triggered by Tata Motors’ Rs 1 lakh car that will be unveiled later this week.

India struck by super Symonds

January 2, 2008 · 1 Comment

Hope u all know that 2nd test between India vs. Australia has been started from today. Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. India started well and took some early wickets. RP Singh took 4 wickets out of the 7 wickets India has taken. India was able to break the opening partnership when the Australia’s score was very low. Then ausie captain Ponting and middle order batsman Hussey took the responsibility and batted very well and made 55 and 41 respectively. After the dismissal of Ponting and Hussey Andrew Symonds came and rules the Sydney cricket ground with his 137 (Not Out) and he got the support of Brad Hogg. He also played a brilliant nock of 79 in just 102 balls. Now at the end of the day total score of Australia is 367/7. Both the batsman Symonds and Brett Lee are still in the crease. Let’s see what happens tomorrow.

That’s all from the latest happenings. Have a great day. Now see the video.
